2011 Suzuki Kizashi Sport

The Sport designation goes to the upper two of Kizashi's four models. The base S and volume SE models stay the same. The GTS and SLS are now called GTS Sport and SLS Sport. The Sport versions get new 18-inch wheels, a new front fascia from the concept car shown two years ago, new rockers and a new rear spoiler. The car is lowered 10 millimeters (0.39 inch), and those wheels are two pounds lighter apiece. Oh, and the steering wheel on the Sport is partly leather.

2011 Ford Focus RS500

Power for the Ford Focus RS500 comes from the same turbocharged Duratec RS 2.5-L 5-cylinder engine found in the RS. However, power has been increased to 345-hp with a maximum torque of 339 lb-ft. That allows the Focus RS500 to go from 0-62 mph in 5.6 seconds with a top speed of 163 mph.

2010 Mazda CX-7 Diesel

Mazda has a small problem with its rakish, buttoned-down CX-7 crossover. With the 244hp, 2.3-liter turbocharged engine under the hood, the CX-7 delivers on the promise of its sporty styling and nicely tuned chassis. It's definitely one of the more entertaining crossovers to drive, but that fun comes at a price. With more than 3900 lb to haul around, the tightly wound turbo-four sucks gas like a six. The EPA mpg rating for the all-wheel drive CX-7s is an unremarkable 17/23 city/highway.

2011 Mercedes-Benz R-Class Sport Car

The R-Class never has been a strong seller, and without a major styling change for 2010, it's likely to remain the invisible cousin to the crisp, good-looking Benz ML-Class and GL-Class SUVs.

The R-Class gets sidelined from most shopping lists, we think, because of its inflated proportions. We don't find anything wrong with the details of the R-Class, but it tries to impose a sport-ute personality on a minivan-sized body and misses the mark. As long as an S-Class and as tall as some SUVs, the R-Class just can't hide its bulk behind the mom-jeans effect of a low, aerodynamic nose. Also, it looks vaguely like many vehicles, and none of the comparisons would be taken as compliments in Stuttgart. At first glance, you might mistake it for its old corporate cousin, the Chrysler Pacifica.

2011 Lexus IS F

Lexus UK revealed today the first details about the forthcoming 2011 IS-F Sports sedan. For the first time in its history, the IS-F line will be offered not just with a limited slip differential, but also new high-tech features and a cool new all-white interior lead. The car, which is available exclusively in the UK, will come with a price tag starting at £55,595.

Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 photo

This is the Mercedes SLS AMG GT3, a racing version of Merc's incredible Gullwing supercar. The SLS GT3 uses the same naturally aspirated, dry-sumped 6.2-litre V8 as its road-going SLS AMG counterpart, and FIA-spec air intake restrictors will peg power back to around 600bhp. The exact power output, and the kerbweight, will be confirmed later in 2010 in line with the FIA’s ‘Balance of Performance’ principle for the GT3 series.

The road car’s seven-speed dual-clutch ‘box has been thrown out though, in favour of a six-speed sequential paddleshift transmission that drives the rear wheels. Together with the lower kerbweight Mercedes claims the GT3 racer will hit 62mph in under 3.8 seconds and top 180mph (depending on the final drive ratio, of course).
