On his way back from the 2007 Italiano Concorso, David Alan, 63, an optometrist by profession, realized that he wanted to doctor more than eyes: the cars. Hence came his custom car building company, Autosports. Three years ago he has dreamt of building the world’s most affordable supercar in Western Pennsylvania. After three years and three custom-built cars later, David saw his cars going fast up to 220mph and wants them to go even faster in future.

Alan’s dream came true and his first prototype, a black GT Malan with thick orange racing stripes across the hood, competed in the Speed Channel’s nationally televised ‘Battle of the Supercars’ – a show that pits the world’s top customizable cars against one another in a series of performance-based tests. The car performed well against the Gumpert Apollo, a German-produced supercar that’s four times the price.

Alan’s car was a 750hp beast that took more than a year and $125,000 to build and passed through three builders before taking the present form. This car is branded as Alan’s own car, because he bought its parts from a local company an altered them heavily to suit his needs. The packages for building the supercars start at $100,000 and deliver a performance at a cost that’s too less to its competitors.

The cars are built strictly as per customer’s specifications and the internal structure is provided by the Boston-area Factory Five Racing. There is no limitation and the customer can ask from diamond studded interior, to 1,000-horsepower engine, to sequential transmission, any kind of paint, horsepower, engine and God knows what not, but everything to give the customer a delight of driving a supercar s/he has imagined.
