Supercars | Ferrari 599 Supercars

Ferrari'sSupercars 599 model has been the thing for them for quite sometime being this popular, the long awaited roadster trim has been announced to be released, in which they would call it the Ferrari 599 SA Aperta, Honoring Pininfarina for their history in helping Ferrari design their most beautiful supercars, Ferrari uses the "SA" badge for Sergio and Andrea Pininfarina, while the Aperta means open in Italian which best describes this open roof roadster.

TheFerrari 599 Full specs of this Ferrari 599 SA Aptera is still unknown, but they would probably carry over their standard 599 V12 engine, we expect this car to be lighter without a roof so the it could probably produce a horsepower of at least 661bhp, there is a temporary soft roof top resorted only if the weather gets bad, the SA Aptera also features a lower ride with 2 roll bars integrated inot the rear deck to provide protection in the untimely event of a rollover

Ferrari 599 SA Aptera is a limited edition and only 80 units will be sold around the world, so we expect a lot of collectors out there will be wanting this unit, that is collectors with a lot of cash because this supercar will cost more than €400,000 the most expensive Ferrari so far, Ferrari 599 SA Aptera will be introduced formally at the 2010 Paris motor show on 30 September.

Race the Base fundraising event pits supercars against military jets

Supercars and airstrips go together like Corvettes and gold chains. There are simply few other locations on this blue marble we call Earth that allow owners to legally and somewhat safely tickle the upper limits of their speedometers. That's exactly why Zahir Rana, the owner of ZR Auto, has organized a charity event to allow supercar owners to have their time on the tarmac at the Canadian Forces Base in Cold Lake, Alberta. For the low, low price of $1,500 per car and $500 per passenger, drivers can ratchet their exotics all the way up to 185 mph or better.

There will even an exhibition in which Rana will put his twin-turbo, 860-horsepower Ferrari Enzo toe-to-toe with a CF-18 Hornet fighter jet, but the best part is that every last dollar will go to four charities. The Military Families Support Society, Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation, Bonnyville Health Foundation and Hearts for Healthcare will all benefit from the Race the Base event. There are only 100 slots available, so if you happen to own a car worth wringing out and have $1,500 Canadian burning a hole in your pocket, head over to the ZR Auto site for more information.

An optometrist builds you the 'most affordable' supercar

david alans most affordable supercar prototype gt malan 5

On his way back from the 2007 Italiano Concorso, David Alan, 63, an optometrist by profession, realized that he wanted to doctor more than eyes: the cars. Hence came his custom car building company, Autosports. Three years ago he has dreamt of building the world’s most affordable supercar in Western Pennsylvania. After three years and three custom-built cars later, David saw his cars going fast up to 220mph and wants them to go even faster in future.

The Izaro GTE Electric Supercar

Who said that electric cars can’t be powerful or as powerful as other supercars that run on regular fuel? At least this seems to be the thought of the Spanish Izaro company that just announced it’s plans for an electric supercar that will bring power to the people but without the fuel costs and carbon emissions.

Named the Izaro GTE, the supercar is said to achieve 0 to 60 mph in under four seconds with a top speed that exceeds 200 mph and all that with zero carbon emissions. A very bold claim, because there’s a saying that goes: if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. But let’s see what other specs they have for us.

Coming in two versions, one 100 percent electric and a hybrid, the Izaro GTE will be sporting 495 hp (the all-electric version) and 416 hp (for the hybrid). According to the company, the range of the electric version will be around 150 miles, give or take because of the driving.

Priced at around $76,000, the light Izaro GTE (it weights bellow 2,200 pounds because of the materials used) will (hopefully) become a reality.
